Since I’m all about lists and end-of-year reflections, why not look back and think through what I’ve loved this year in music, TV and technology.

someecards.com - I refuse to reminisce about the past year unless it's in a

Just to make it clear, these might not necessarily be stuff from 2012, but these are things that I truly enjoy watching/listening to in 2012.

Without further ado, let’s begin…

 Top 5 Songs of 2012

  1. I Won’t Give Up by Jason Mraz. I love this song so much, I asked the band to sing it during our wedding. A beautiful song with beautiful lyrics. Jason Mraz is a legend!
  2. Trembling Hands by Temper Trap. Love their music. And extra brownie point: the singer is originally from Indonesia.
  3. Nightlight by The Sam Willows. I’m glad I found this Singaporean band on YouTube. Love their sound, especially in this haunting song.
  4. Babel (Album) by Mumford and SonsYes, not just the one song, I’m talking about the whole album! I love listening to them play. They’re so good live and equally great on the album. Crazy good stuff.
  5. Beneath Your Beautiful by Labrinth feat. Emili SandeAnd to squeeze one in, this song is my December favourite. I got Emili’s album for Kris Kringle and this song was on repeat for a while in the car.

Top 5 Songs I Repeated Way Too Often in 2012

  1. Cough Syrup by Young the Giant. It has been my most overplayed song, in a good way, in 2012 (even though the song was released last year). I love all the covers, all the acoustics and also the original version. Yes, that good.
  2. Romeo and Juliet by Dire StraitsAn old song that I discovered through The Voice Australia (who says you can’t find good music from reality talent shows?) This song is wicked. Three favourite covers: Adam Martin, Lisa Mitchell and The Killers.
  3. I Can’t Make You Love Me by Bon IverJustin Vernon’s voice is so enchanting, I like listening to most of his stuff on YouTube. Another similar artist worth noting: Vincent McMorrow.
  4. Big Jet Plane by Angus & Julia StoneIt wasn’t actually the original version that got me into this whole listening frenzy. It was actually Lakyn Heperi of The Voice Australia fame who got me all mesmerised by the song. Nonetheless, I was mesmerised.
  5. Lonely Boy by Matt Corby (Cover)When Matt Corby did a cover of The Black Keys’ Lonely Boy on Triple J’s Like A Version, I listened to it way too many times in the first few days. Too. Good.

Here’s the playlist of all the songs I just listed above, just in case you would like to scrutinise my choice and taste in music further! LOL.

Top 5 TV Shows of 2012

  1. New Girl. Started watching it when Season 1 was over, marathons are always fun. Now can’t wait for every new episode in Season 2. Love the freshness of the characters. And my Zooey!
  2. The Voice (US/UK/AU) & X Factor Australia. There is something so good about singing talent shows. I know, I know. It’s been done over and over again. But I love it still. Especially the judges in The Voice US.
  3. Big Brother Australia 2012. Oh yes, mock me how you want it, I still enjoyed the whole thing. Sadly, my favourite didn’t win (Estelle) but it was still great television.
  4. The Project. It might seem weird to have a daily news show to be on this list. But I love how this show has changed since its inception. One hour long. Filled with hard news stuff but with a lighter side to it. Love the panels and the guests.
  5. Game of Thrones. I’m cheating a little bit here, I didn’t actually watch the whole thing. I find some bits too gruesome and unnecessarily gross. But I do read recaps and watch bits and pieces! What an epic series. Makes me want to read the books.

Top 5 Exciting Product Releases of 2012

  1. iPhone 5. The only one in this list that I actually bought! LOL. I even reviewed it a few days after my purchase. Happy customer, of course.
  2. Windows 8. I’m an Apple fan girl, but I use PC (yes, what’s wrong with that?) I am definitely getting Win 8 laptop next (very soon in fact) however from my first few touches, I don’t know if I like it as much as I anticipated it.
  3. MacBook Pro with Retina Display. Apple is a genius when it comes to creating high quality products that set the trends. This is no different. I want one.
  4. Lenovo Ideapad Yoga 13″. Convertible/hybrid laptops are so cool, especially when coupled with Win 8. This one is currently the best looking one with the most promising specs also.
  5. Olympus OM-D E-M5 camera. Wanted this camera but didn’t end up buying it because it wasn’t out in time for my honeymoon. Looks good, awesome specs.

That’s my list. What about yours? What are some of the things you’ve enjoyed consuming this year?
